Food Inspection Job Opportunity

One permanent, one temporary contract (up to seven months)

If so, please consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to challenge yourself by managing the day-to-day meat inspection activities in the Vineland area while developing and maintaining a high performing team.

What can I expect to do in this role?

·  Manage the delivery of inspection services at provincially licensed meat plants within a specific geographic area to ensure accountability and compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and standards

·  Lead a diverse team of individuals in a unionized environment, promoting 'modern regulator' principles

·  Build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, partners and regulated clients

·  Ensure that area goals are attained through operational and business planning

·  Manage the human, financial and material resources of the area

How do I qualify?

Mandatory Requirement:

·  You are able to travel on short notice to various areas in Ontario not accessible by public transit

Managerial and Leadership Skills:

·  You have managerial and leadership skills to provide strategic direction and guidance to staff as well as foster an environment of high performance, learning, growth and continuous improvement

Strategic and Operational Planning Skills:

·  You have strategic and operational planning skills to establish clear objectives and work plans to meet priorities, utilizing the skills of the work unit and effectively managing resources

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

·  You have communication and relationship management skills to build and maintain effective working relationships and persuade stakeholders to comply with regulations

·  You have political acuity to manage complex, potentially adversarial and emotional situations/issues

Industry Knowledge:

·  You have knowledge of the principles, theories and practices related to food safety

·  You have knowledge of the meat processing industry

·  You have experience working in a regulatory compliance environment

Salary Range

$69,399 - $88,946 per year
