Footwear - what do you wear?

You are on your feet all day and half the night long.  You are lifting huge amounts over and over, in slippery and wet conditions, cleaning up, dropping heavy things on your foot or feet.

What do you wear?  WHAT-DO-YOU-WEAR??? (um, like in Speed - what do you do? lol)

I tried many many footwear, but it wasn't until I found Rocky's that finally made me happy.  (www.rockyboots.com)

Their composite sole provided enough support that I could carry 200 lb. forequarters the length of the meatroom and not bottom out on the soles; I'd sink in and still have room to go, they were that comfortable.  And they were a true work shoe or boot, nothing light or skimpy about them.  And I wore them for over 30 years and they are still in business and thriving!

Check them out, they are great!  www.rockyboots.com   I usually wore low cuts during the summer and high cuts during the winter, waterproof with a composite toe (warmer than steel toe) and polished them every week.

As a meat manager I wore Knapp dress-style work boots with steel toes and steel shanks. They looked just like a dress shoe/boot but were rugged and safe.
As a cutter I wore Red Wings work boots with steel toes and steel shanks.  They looked similar to the photo you posted. They were great!  Non-slip and very comfortable if heavy. And made in USA of course.  I can't say enough good about them.  In fact I only bought one pair in 1980 and still have them! (I retired in 1995). I paid about $150 for them. At Pathmark we were sanitation crazy, with a centralized blitzer (high pressure washer) with some heavy duty germicidal detergents and sanitizers. Plus we also mopped the floor after all that using Liquid Plumber and Clorox Cleanup, which kept the tile and grout looking great but no doubt degraded these work boots.  Well about 1984 these boots started to fail so I went back to the Red Wings store with the intent to buy a new pair.  The store mgr. asked me what was wrong with them, how it happened, etc. I told him and told him I needed to buy a new pair. He told me, "I won't sell you a new pair.  This just should not happen. I will GIVE you a new pair, but I insist you take our top of the line model to ensure this never happens again."
So he upgraded me to their best model which were about $190  back then, and I still have them and still use them while logging my woodlot. They are still in great shape and still look and feel great.
This is the VALUE equation, which encompasses more than just price. Maybe not always, but often, you get what you pay for.

so very true, you get what you pay for, I tend to use the logging boots from Red Wings, the only problem is they collect a lot of debris due to the vibram sole

I wore cowboy boots for 48 years of my 51 years cutting, never had a problem with my feet. then let my wife talk me into wearing a pair of those sport wear shoes, 4 months later I couldn't get my boots back on and had problems with my feet every since

I get a lot of work gear at sportsmansguide.com Great deals on work boots, Rocky brand and others. Insulated, waterproof, steel toe boots work best for all around protection, doubles as a snow boot. Get on the e-mail list to get even better deals. Sometimes 20% off with free shipping

I usually go with the Jordon’s! They have really nice shoes. I also like to wear Carbon38 tank tops and workout clothes as well. The best thing about the store is that they have workout and casual wear and that too in so much variety.
