On Saturday 10th October, over 260 Independent local Butchers and Industry Partners attended AMIC’s 2015 Industry Awards Night at The Langham Melbourne. The night was as magnificent as promised with Sam Kekovich MC for the night leading the way with proceedings.

This year the Sausage King and Smallgoods competition remained strong in Victoria with Independent Local Butchers entering over 1050 products.

Congratulations to all Sausage King, Smallgoods and Hamburger Winners and finalists on the evening.

AMIC Victoria also introduced three new Awards at the 2015 Industry Awards Dinner. se awards have given recognition to Individuals and Retail Outlets who have strived to be the best that they can be in our industry:

The Victorian Retail Butcher Shop of the Year Award Won by:

Rainbow Meats – Highpoint

This award will recognise the Independent Local Butcher Shop that demonstrates a highly professional, innovative, aspirational and sustainable business enterprise. Judging will take into account every aspect of a modern retail butcher shop and this will include: business management and planning; human resource practices; marketing and promotional strategies; and effective customer relations management.

The Sir William Angliss AMIC Apprentice of the Year Award Year Won by:

Jimmy Nevill (Albert St Butchery – Daylesford)

The AMIC Apprentice Competition is a nationwide Mystery Box competition and is open to 2nd and 3rd year apprentices in all Independent Local Butcher shops throughout Australia. Winners from each State will compete in the National Apprentice Competition, which will be held during the National Sausage King Competition in February of the year following the State competitions (i.e. the winner of the Victorian Apprentice Competition 2015 will compete Nationally in February 2016).

The Ricky Hart Legends Award Awarded to Ray Stamp

The Ricky Hart Legends Award is a celebration that recognises the outstanding achievements of those in Victoria who have made major contributions to the industry. The Award has been named after Ricky Hart who was an Astute Business Man. Ricky loved people, loved being sociable, having a good time enjoying a beer and a yarn. Traits that held him in good stead throughout the industry and endeared him to all those who came into contact with him.

Thank you again to all of our members and industry partners for your involvement and support. We look forward to seeing your faces at the 2016 AMIC Industry Awards Night, which we assure you, will only be bigger and better
