COOL labeling was voted out in June of this year...

http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2015/06/house-votes-to-repeal-country-of-origin-labeling-for-meat/#.VhJdBbQ-DmU

I think this is something that is important for people to know where the food they are eating is sourced from.

Supporters of repeal don’t want the U.S. subjected to the $3.6 billion in potential retaliatory tariffs sought by Canada and Mexico. They also argue that the rule has already burdened the U.S. meat industry.

I can understand this but looks like something could be done by the states them self's. not much into politics but could this come under a state right issue

The Govt was quick to force this on everyone from the farm to the grocer, I know that where i work it really turned everything upside down. Not a whisper was ever mentioned at store level.

Now I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed and I'm sure you'all won't hesitate to point that out (HA! HA!) but this sounds more like global extortion. I found some more info on this so I hope this makes this clear as mud.

www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/2393

These are just a few links that I have been skimming thru in order to figure out what the hell is going on.

Well now it seems that Cool can now be classified as "pork bung! I hope it is however, that being said I sure don't like to eat farm raised fish. If you have ever been to a fish farm you would no why. Excessive amounts of lead and cadmium (originating from the feed).  Give me wild caught any day, about the only thing you have to worry about is finding a plastic bottle or syringe inside the belly. lOL>

From what I have been told by some people who follow some of these new laws is that the one we need to watch the most is something called TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership). This is a  Trade Agreement that has been kept very secret by the current administration.

And if you read about it, it will scare the heck out of you. Here is one mans opinion: While 600 corporate lawyers helped write this "treaty" our legislatures were not allowed to see it.  When they saw it was after signing a paper saying they would not disclose anything.  The non-gov't courts give corporations power to sue local, state and national gov'ts if they pass laws, like environmental, health, workers rights, etc. that effect the profits of the corporations.  Sue in courts ran by the corporations.  Yeah, who wins those arguments. this so called treaty is NAFTA on steroids. it has been called a corporate coup d'état.

Something is fishy about all of this , I was just checked by the USDA inspector checking on my COOL compliance this past week . He told me that it had passed the House but not the Senate so the law is still in force .
