Start to finish how do you approach your work day.
Perhaps we can pick up on someone else's approach, something we may realize we overlook
Please include details that shape your approach like: are you opening, mid-shift, close, lead cutter. Is it your case to run or working off of someone elses par/cut lists. Full-service or fresh/pre-packAre you responsible for placing the product orders, running any reports(shrink, top/bottom movers, yoy,)
Years experience.
And if you want-- where you are currently cutting for

cprbbq I love this post, be interesting to see some feedback
Since I'm retired and have not ran a market in 5 years I want comment except to say my approach every morning was to be motivated to do my best and to motive my crew to do their best
I am an opener, I start at six am. I have set a time limit for myself for every morning, fish done by 7 when my wrapper arrives. Grinds done by 7:30 when my truck comes. Unload skids and start cutting for my counter by the time the store opens at 8. Start filling holes then work on setting up the afternoon shift. By 10 when my next co-worker shows up I start to slow down . I work for an independent grocery store in pemberton b.c. I love the opening shift, there is no one else there taking your work so you are always busy.
I manage the department. so my day starts with pre planning at home while slugging the morning coffee. reminding myself what day it is what orders need wrote for the day.i make a lot of to do list.hit the clock walk all cases on way to the cutting room checking temps as i go. check coolers and freezers to see that all warehouse orders came in . then cull and fill fresh case. by 630 am cutter and wrapper in at 6 helps face and fill lunch-meat and frozen cases. i write cut list for fresh case and grinds. all holes filled by 830 am. break for some old fashion energy drink ( dark and bitter like the ex wifes heart) then back to cut sale items for the day then look at items going out the next day. i dont plan time for paper work . i do bill log as they are recieved try to write orders for next day so i dont have to rush to check inventory when sales people call. as far as other paper work schedules and the millon other pieces of paper that need pushed. i have 2 clip boards 1 for need done now other for the not so important items. #2 gets done in moments of lull end of day last 10 mins or any free moments.
