Your question kind of implies that Labor Day is a special time to buy and sell ground fish. I've never heard of that. Please explain.

Sorry, referring to Rosh Hashanah on the 14th.

Just wondering if it is a factor for anyone, and how they approach it.

Oh, sorry. That explains it. Interesting!

No we're not even considering it in my store and never have as far as I know, but I'm not in the fish & poultry dept. I'm meat. But I'll suggest it to the F & P manager and see what he says.

Is this a non beef eating time, or can we expect to sell a few briskets? If it's a non beef day, should we start by grinding less beef?

Brisket is by far my largest selling beef item this week and next week. It will overtake whichever grind or steak is in our ad.

What's the price on the briskets? Isn't there another holiday, or one day right before a holiday, when Jewish people are supposed to fast? I think that's the reason we got stuck with a lot of ground beef the day after that a few years ago. I need to keep that in mind and make a light grind that day, if and whenever it is.

I asked the F & P manager. He said he's never had ground fish in his counter, but he has made it when requested. There's a small chain in my area, Chaves Market, and they have ground tilapia all year long. I don't know if sales go up for any holidays.

6.99 on choice trimmed flats.

Yom Kippur, is the 22nd, would involve a 25 hr fast.
