New Hickory Grocery Store Looking for Local Products

New Hickory Grocery Store Looking for Local Products

Food Matters Market is a grocery store opening in Hickory in early 2015 that is looking for quality, local food and artisan products to sell in their store, such as meats, produce, cheese, baked goods, jams, soaps, and other value-added products. Representatives from the store will be giving a presentation open to any interested producers about the new store and the process for becoming a supplier on February 11, 2015 from 5:30-7:00pm at the Catawba County Cooperative Extension Center at 1175 S. Brady Ave, Newton, NC 28658.

Local producers interested in moving beyond the farmers market into retail sales will get valuable information about making this transition. Topics to be covered include desired products, food safety and insurance requirements, delivery process, in-store farm promotion opportunities, and much more.

For more information and to RSVP, contact Catawba County Cooperative Extension at (828) 465-8243 or email at  kellyn_montgomery@ncsu.edu.
