First Australian Butcher to win a WOW! Award.

Ted the Butcher; a Legend in Australia

Ted started working in his father's Butcher shop as an apprentice in 1947; during this time he has built up a great reputation and become somewhat of a local icon. Six days a week, you can be sure to get delicious, fresh cuts of meat, amazing home-made sausages and a truly memorable, personal service. Customers travel from all over Sydney to the picturesque town of Como, for the best Barbecue supplies around.

Thanks to all his dedication and hard work over the years, Ted is now the first Butcher in Australia to win a WOW! Award.

This butcher shop has been serving customers since 1926, where Ted is still continuing his Father's legacy.

Peter Merrett's nomination: "We live in Como, a beautiful small town south of Sydney. Our nomination is for Ted Cary, our local Butcher. He has been working at his Butcher shop in Como since 1947, before that his father owned it from 1926. Now in his late 70's, he still works 6 days a week and you basically walk into his cool room and wait while he chops up a carcass right in front of you. Its not just the best meat at Teds, but you're sure to get a great story and he always remembers who you are. He jokes about being the longest ever serving apprentice, after working with his dad for 42 years! People literally come from all over Sydney to get his delicious fresh cuts of meat and amazing home-made sausages. Ted is a local icon and it is here that the great Aussie BBQ begins. WeekendNotes, the free global online newsletter says "The best butcher in the world is Ted Cary" so we feel very lucky and thoroughly spoilt to live right on the doorstep! We would love for Ted to be the first Butcher in Australia to win a WOW! Award, for his unbelievable customer service."
