Albertsons prepares to close 26 locations

Albertsons plans to shutter 26 stores nationwide by Feb. 20, mostly on the West Coast. The chain also will close two Acme Markets stores in Pennsylvania and two Shaw's stores in Massachusetts. "These are stores we identified as being underperforming, and, despite our best efforts, we determined we couldn't position them for future profitability," Albertsons spokeswoman Christine Wilcox said.
