Another job ad for you

Here is another example of something we discussed months ago.  A large chain store will post a job ad when they are not really looking to hire just to keep up a stack of applications incase of a strIke.  I wish  they would mention that on top instead of on the bottom.

Meijer is a leading Supercenter located in five states throughout the Midwest, with nearly 200 stores and almost 60,000 employees. As a multi-billion dollar retailer, Meijer is ranked as the 15th largest privately held company in the country. We have become a respected leader in the competitive retail market by sticking to our core values of customers, competition, family, freshness, and safety & health. Meijer's Midwest geography includes corporate offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and stores, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Currently, Meijer is looking for a Meat Processor. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for daily cutting of fresh beef, pork and grind. The individual will follow the production schedule to meet requirements for advertised fresh meat cuts and assist in the writing of fresh meat orders. The Meat Processor will organize and check in fresh meat deliveries while maintaining a positive working relationship with customers, team members and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with weights and measure processes specific to meat processing
  • Ability to understand and follow specific safety and sanitation procedures
  • Experience in product presentation and packaging
  • Experience using Computer Assisted Ordering applications
  • Current handjack/hilo license
  • Experience with inventory control procedures

Thank you for your interest in this position. There may not be current openings for this position at this time. By submitting an application to this position, you are expressing interest should an opening become available in the future. Our recruiters routinely review available applications as openings become available.

Thanks for the bad news. smile

Does anyone here have a handjack/hilo license? What is a hilo? A fork lift? What is a handjack? Is that another name for pallet jack?

RE: Another job ad for you

Here's a listing that is delusional and downright insulting... First: Part-time? It's a 37 hour per week job. Second: $10 per hour? Who are they kidding? Third: Shift is Friday to Monday... there's a special place in hell reserved for these types of owners.

I spent a number of years living in the city of Lowell. It's Massachusetts. The cost of living is ridiculous. $10 per hour barely covers rent and heat and utilities. I would say that the average cutter here earns at the very, very least $15 to $17 per hour. Typically pay is more like $20 to $23 per hour. There are very few guys who know how to process a whole beef from start to finish with a quality presentation needed for a service case. The city of Lowell has a historically high unemployment. Methinks the folks running retail-facility knows this.

Looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent customer service skills to fill a Butcher position at Alpine Butcher. We strive to produce a positive cheerful work environment and would like to find an optimistic person that would build upon our excellent reputation.

Candidate must have experience breaking down primal cuts of beef, pork, lamb, & chicken

Must be 18 years or older. Resume and references are mandatory. Car for self transportation is mandatory.

The job would entail:
Stocking Meat Case
Cutting Custom orders, such as: roasts, steaks, marinated items.

The schedule would be:
Friday: 9:30am - 7:00pm
Saturday: 9:30am - 7:00pm
Sunday: 9:30am - 6:00pm
Monday: 9:30am - 7:00pm

The job also includes:
$15.00/Hour Sunday Pay

Please call me for quick phone interview: 978-758-2590, or reply to this post with your resume

Location: 963 Chelmsford St., Lowell, MA
Compensation: $10.00/Hour

A Hilo is a forklift that you drive. I believe it is supposed to be high- low. I am sure they mean pallet jack but can't imagine why you would need a license to operate one. I have never met a meat cutter with a forklift license. I am sure there are a few though.
