Cut Gloves

Hey there y'all,

This is my first post. I'm a journeyman cutter who just moved to a large grocery store chain after completing an apprenticeship and then being a full cutter a specialty shop. Currently I'm getting used to the increased speed expectations of a big store and would really like to purchase an elbow length cut glove. The problem is I can't seem to find anywhere to buy one no matter how hard I google search.

Does anyone have a good website that carries elbow length gloves? Having just moved from specialty butchering to large store cutting price isn't really an issue, I want something quality that will last a good 3-5 years at least.

RE: Cut Gloves

Maybe you need a glove and a separate piece for your forearm. I found this "sleeve" in a quick Internet search.

Yes, you will need 2 seperate pieces, a glove and a sleeve. Both Bunzl www.bunzlpd.com/home.php and Hantover com www.hantover.com/cgi/hnt.wsc/product_list have a wide variety and price range of cut resistant products. Check the ANSI cut resistance protection level ( 5 is the best ) Consider a sleeve with a thumb hole, it will eliminate the opening around the wrist. Get something you will wear everyday, it can't help if you don't use it. Never wear a glove when you're working on the saw.

I am in Canada but this is what I have seen done. You can wear a glove and a plastic arm guard.

I dont know this company or anything else about them

They also sell long mesh gloves. The ones I have seen come from France. They have up to an 8 inch (20 mm ) cuff.

Thanks for the links everyone. Its been very helpful. I've seen full chain mesh gloves with attached elbow sleeves in the past but I'm thinking a cut resistant sleeve with less metal, combined with a straight mesh glove might be more comfortable overall. More affordable as well. Thank y'all much.
