I decided to move from Massachusetts because I went three months without work after leaving my job as a meat manager at a small supermarket. I sold everything I couldn't fit in my car and drove to Colorado to be with more people like me. I mean happy, quirky people, instead of m*******s. A week here, and I had two job offers. I took one in Boulder, at Lucky's Market.
These guys have a small square with several stores working together. A bakery, cafe, market, liquor store, etc. I work as a meat cutter/clerk at a full service counter. We have our own smoker, so there is always smoked sausage and bacon in the case (yum!). There are many cool things about this place. For one, instead of reducing merchandise or throwing it away when it's almost expired, they give it to employees. Also, in a calendar year, I can earn 36 "minga" hours, which are used to volunteer for anything to help the community, and work pays me for that volunteer time!
The people are great, and I'm having a ball. It's so great to not be the manager and have none of that stress lol
