Hiya DudeA couple of things to checkIs the power to machine cut off someplace else, like a circuit breaker panel or a cut off box ?If this is the case then it is not necessary to disconnect plugs. If it is shut off at a panel, the panel should be in the meat room with a lockout tag.A local chain had the panel in the back hallway next to the back meat room door with other panels for the storeso the guys just shut it off there, butone day the refrigeration in dairy went out,the dairy guy came back and turned all the breakerson. No serious injury, just a really P O‘dmeat guy.NextIs the plug set protected by a set of water resistant boots ?Are they installed correctly ?They should be tight to the wire and snug on the plug and receptacle to keep water out, not loose and sloppy, that’s pointless. The larger receptacle boot should overlap the plug boot from above allowing water to run off, not to collect in lower boot.AlsoIs the plug set off the floor ?If it isn’t , it should be.Tie it up, or better yet, get your wiring made shorter so it can’t happen. Most of this advice is just common sense, but you’d be surprised how often it occurs.Check how your shop is set up.Just make certain the power is off.
I started at a market where the mixer didn't have a lid and no guards whatsoever. The meat was ground from the grinder into to mixer then dumped or tilted into lugs. From there back to the grinder and into trays. We just knew to keep away from it while it was running. Although I did loose a fingertip to a Patty O'Matic.
