I could kick myself for not thinking of asking in this forum sooner! So a little more than 2 years ago my job required me to work in Michigan.
Coming from the Philadelphia area, I have been disappointed in that I have been unable to find a good pizza, cheesesteak, grinder, or hoagie (submarine to non-Philadelphians). I found it disappointing if not laughable that the area's landmark food is a "Coney Island" which is nothing more than a hotdog where I come from, and I've never been a hot dog fan.
Then one day I took my wife to the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn. We had lunch at the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile cafe where we had foot long hotdogs. Well this was the best hotdog I ever had, bar none! After that day I went on a mission to get more without having to pay admission to the museum again. I started patronizing all the different "Coney Island" restaurants in the area. I ate at at least a dozen and all were disappointments. Just ordinary hotdogs.
So, do any of you guys or gals know where I might duplicate the culinary experience with these great foot long hotdogs like they have at the Henry Ford?
Hi Jim, my wife lived in Dearborn for many years, she agrees with you about the " foot long dogs " at Henry Ford. she never found any out side of it that were as good either. She went to Coney Island most of the time. She has a sister still living there and said she would ask her.
