Lets take a trip to Atlanta

Here a video I did with Ronnie Wilkes, He was with A&P during the 70's when I was with them in Atlanta. Ronnie's father, Kretzer Wilkes was my Regional Supervisor in the late 60', early 70's. Ronnie own 5 markets at one time, then sold three, keeping the Suwanee and Cumming, Ga. stores, http://www.thewilkestradition.com/ http://www.wilkesmeat.com/

I like the pictures on the walls, The ones I could see clearly anyway. It would be fun if I could do that where I work. Put my own posters up.

I've never seen green steak paper.

It would be nice to see the counter again after the case is fully set, when they're ready for business, but nice video anyway.

ALL the years you been in this business you NEVER seen green steak paper ??? WOW

These are the most common colors of steak paper and what they are used for:

  • Pink is typically used for pork, poultry and fish. Pink steak paper complements the hue of the meat and also preserves freshness.
  • Black is used to display higher quality beef such as angus. Black makes a sophisticated impact and conveys the “prime” quality of high-grade steaks.
  • Green offers a nice contrast against the bright color of steak and other cuts of beef. The bold shade of green never varies from specific color that has been used for years.
  • Peach helps make the pink tint of pork, poultry, fish look even whiter, while helping preserve freshness.

Ive seen it used in Michigan as well. I used it mostly in the NY metro area.... wrapped I-round roasts with it as well as using it pretty much for everything else in a service counter. I preferred black only because of the contrast that it gave to both veal and pork and yes it was usually used to denote CAB products also. Peach, however, did wonders for preserving the color of meat but I believe it is a little more pricier than white, black or green. Not quite sure what is used in the peach paper to have that effect, certainly couldn't of been peaches!...lol.

TO ALL OF OUR FRIENDS AT WILKES MARKET OF SUWANEE:

Dear Friends,

All the prayers from everyone have been answered.                               Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Jennifer received a kidney on Friday and is making great progress.  She will be coming home tonight.

It is from the bottom of our heart that we want to say THANK YOU for all the support you have given to Jennifer, and to the donor who generously gave a kidney to her.  Please keep the donor in your prayers.

Your personal commitment was incredible. We have cried with great happiness for the success of this operation.

As this chapter of her life ends and a new one is to begin, we still need your prayers and support.

Thank you from all of us.

Ronnie and Cathy Wilkes

Thank you so much Leon for posting the email I just wrote about our Daughter Jennifer. She is home now. She has a long recovering time back and forth from home to the hospital.  But it is all well worth it.  The smile on her face is priceless.

Thank you again for coming to our store and doing the video for us. You are truly a good man. Sorry I missed you, Ronnie really enjoyed your visit.
