It was good to talk to you Tuesday afternoon regarding the need for meat cutter training in Georgia and the Southeast. I will have our staff research how our college maybe able to address this workforce need. The process for approval of a college credit program requires that we conduct a market driven needs analysis to determine the need for a given education program in our college service area. In our case our service area is the 9 counties of Northwest Georgia.
As I mentioned to you, we can also consider a non-credit, certified training program where students pay the full amount of the training. This will require the development of the training content, hands-on lab training, hiring an experienced instructor and the use of a nationally recognized industry exam process at the end of the program to award a "Employer Recognized Certification".
We will consider both approaches and determine how to proceed. I should be able to give you an update within a couple of weeks.
Seems like the latter approach will require the cooperation of all the local and national markets and chains, so will the graduates be able to take their credentials to other markets if they happen to switch jobs?
