good looking set ups,,,the mackerel and ocean perch we use to use for lobster bait-put in the traps poke a needle thru their eyes and set them on a string that would tie the traps' door shut the "bait needle" is alot like the needle you would use to make a pork crown roast with twine.
I wish fresh fish wasnt so damn expensive- haddock fillets are the traditional favorites in maine-mild tasting fish salmon is number two in popularity
dry sea scallops are one of my all time favs (sea scallops are larger than bay scallops) bacon wrapped scallops...are great
My father is a fisherman- as kids my brother and I use to work on his boat- dragging for scallops- try to find a scallop bed and drag a net across- always done in the winter- ice everywhere, wasnt a fun job the scallop its-self is the muscle that holds the shells together, the actual scallop (guts and all), are shucked and thrown away
we use to eat these raw for lunch-
seafood markets always have the impression, the fish is fresher, better tasting- much like meat markets
