They are well known for their range of gourmet sausages (including Vegemite and cheese as one of our most popular), Their wide range of pies and as the only shop in town who makes their own small goods - ranging from bacon, hams, pancetta, speck, traditional biltong, jerky, cabanossi, and even rendering our own dripping, with the range to be broadened as the year progresses. They take pride in their work and being 'old school', They were nominated for the local chamber of commerce and industry customer service of the year award (in two categories) within 3 months of taking over their shop. They use their business as a base to help raise community awareness for local charities, raising funds for local community groups and sponsor many sporting clubs and carer groups
They have a young Supervisor that keeps them on their toes, Their son Brady
Who's the young guy? Here in USA, you must be at least 18 years old which I think is a very stupid rule. What would be wrong with the boss's son or daughter (or any hard working youngster) coming in at 5am every day before school and helping out? That's how it used to be.
I have known lots of people who started under 18 (I'm one of them). We have a bunch of sissy rules/laws in USA
Thanks Leon for that very warm welcome. I'm glad to be a member here.
@ Burgermeister - Brady (our youngest son) only comes in with us on weekends to help make sausages where we can keep an eye on him - he turns 9 tomorrow. There's no hard and fast rule that I know of, we've had guys working for us who are 15 years old.
With Australia day coming up this weekend the meat case is getting an overhaul - glad to 'meat' everyone here. I look forward to sharing ideas, swapping recipes and so on and so forth.
The four pictures down the bottom are (from L-R, Lamb Koftas and Lamb Mint sausage rolls - marinated lamb pinwheels - bacon and asparagus stuffed rolled boneless lamb loin - and the last is a greek boneless lamb roast (stuffed with pesto, spinach, fetta and kalamata olives) We're adding a lot of new lamb products this week for Australia day - will post some photos later.
