Background NC Choices has been contacted by an out-of-state meat processing company that is considering North Carolina as a possible location for a “further processing” facility. This company creates cooked and ready-to-eat meat products primarily for a national buyer who sources beef and pork from producers who raise their animals under high-welfare conditions outdoors on pasture and/or in deep bedded indoor systems without using added hormones, antibiotics or other growth enhancing drugs. NC Choices wishes to provide this company with some basic information about production capacity of pork, beef and poultry raised in this manner in North Carolina. Should this company choose to locate to North Carolina, there may be significant benefits to the state’s agricultural sector.
This preliminary survey is designed to gather basic information. We understand that this survey is just a beginning effort and that the results will provide only a snapshot of niche meat production in North Carolina. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

To those who have been waiting to be listed- thanks so much for your patience while we grow in our capacity to serve the local and niche meat value chain.
