I spend alot of time on the golf course too. Which one does he go to . maybe I'll follow him and I'll tell you.
Seriously though If its causing that big of a problem you are going to have to have a little talk with him. I got the same problem sometimes. there are these people I call FOJS (Friends of Joes) They will show up suddenly asking for their whole ribeye at 4.99 a lb. I will say the lowest I can go on a whole ribeye is 5.99. usually they say ok thats fine I ll take one but sometimes they will say "Joey told me I could get one for 4.99" I will tell them Joey is the boss if he wants to give you one for 4.99 he can come down here and tell me that himself and I will take care of it for you just like that *snapping my finger* but until then its 5.99. Usually they don't put up a fight because Joey never actually said anything to them they are just making it up because they know him. it kind of sounds like your owner might just be bragging on the course and the people who brags too take it seriously. but if he is actually working business with them maybe ask him to carry a paper pad with him to write down the orders and give y ou some notice to get it done in time.

My owner spends a lot of time on the golf course in the summer, which is great. The problem is he tends to talk shop and take special orders for steaks and brat's, which is great also.... But he also forgets to tell me, which isn't so great when customers show up to get their orders and I dont have a clue what they are talking about! How do I get him to remember to tell me!!
Sometimes it depends on how many drinks they have on the 19th hole
If this is really getting bad, the boss would be hearing it from his golf buddies
Id give your boss a "special order card" a 5x7 piece of paper with name, product, quantity, tel. number, date of pick up and PRICE
and make sure these are in his golf bag, so when he does actually get a special order, he has a format to go on, and will probly make more of an effort to get it back to you
A lot of talk takes place on the golf course- I talk up all my accounts and pass out names of meat managers to call
I try to make sure the other golfers/customers call the meat managers directly for clarity
Put up a communication board in the back of ur shop and tell him straight up when he takes a order post it....it's his shop by him ****ing up customers orders there gonna get pissed off and not come back then he's shooting him self in the foot
wow that really isnt good, start looking for another opening in your down time and then tell him straight up. When that happens your the guy behind the counter that looks like a dummy and thats not fair to you ...stick up for yourself. your better than that. It shows in your plea for help.
