Matt, a very unpleasant, but necessary requirement- in a management position
I've had to, didnt like it at all, tried not to personalize it too much- each case- the person had many chances-they made thier own bed, they had to lie in it- also in many cases, thier work ethic (or lack of) was dragging others around them down- not fair to everyone else
for a new hire- sometimes you've got to go with your sixth sense and it depends what position you are hiring for.
yea I had to fire someone that was a GREAT worker but I guess they hired him before they got the background check back....had to let him go for something being on the background check....I had nothing to do with hiring him, tried to let them slide on it but they said it was a major offense....so it had to be done....
I can't actually fire anyone, but I can give examples and documentation that demonstrates why someone needs to be let go. I've done it a few times and I'm glad I have. I haven't, however, had a good employee that I've had to let go. They've all been marginal to begin with.
