can anybody tell me about ˝HALAL" meat


j just what is it you want to know about it???

how you have to cut it or about Dhabihah,the prescribed method of ritual slaughter 

If you going to handle Halal meat in your market you have to have a separate cooler for it, a separate place to cut it & your knifes can never come in contact with any non Halal meat

from what ive heard, it is goats processed by Halal's

just as kosher meat is blessed by a rabbi, (cut and bled specs)

Halal's bleed and cut the critter in a certain manner -most muslims will only eat halal meat

I asked a processor about this, and he said it's not a pretty sight-how they(halals) bleed the animal

I was teaching a muslim store owner how to cut a couple years back (he wouldnt touch the pork)
he was telling me this-they will pay big bucks for halal meat

This particular muslim, would insist I pick out any hard liquor bottle I wanted, for helping him,
the last visit i had he gave me a large crown royal

]Dhabiha: method of slaughter
Ḏabīḥah (ذَبِيْحَة) is the prescribed method of slaughtering all animals excluding fish and most sea-life per Islamic law. This method of slaughtering animals consists of using a well sharpened knife to make a swift, deep incision that cuts the front of the throat, the carotid artery, wind pipe and jugular veins but leaves the spinal cord intact.[2] The head of an animal that is slaughtered using halal methods is aligned with the Qiblah. In addition to the direction, permitted animal should be slaughtered in the name of Allah (the Lord) and the person who is slaughtering should be a Muslim and he/she should be in a good mental condition and faith.

We got Halal meat a little while ago at my old store - I wasn't impressed with the quality - was right there with SuKarne and the other mexican meats ... totally different regions but the same quality - at least what I saw..

Thanks everyone, my in-laws were in town and showed me a paper with aqn internet story on it about Halal meat, it was was written in a way that was very biased, and anti-muslim, Despite my name I am not muslim but was however interested in getting to the bottom of the story. I had never, ever, never, heard about halal meat until yesterday, and I like to think I have been around the block once or twice, but I need an answer on this just in case I am asked. If it is real, like kosher, or something I want to learn about it. From what I gather it is more popular on the east coast. I am always willing to learn something new. thanks every one.

I sometimes sell halal chicken but I don't tell my customers just incase they get upset.
I don't care myself because this was the traditionally the way meat was killed in years gone by apart from the praying bit.

In my northern area Lilydale (fresh chicken supplier) sells Halal boneless skinless chicken breasts in a #2 small pack (two per pack).

No Frills (superstore, extra foods) carries it, I haven't tried bringing it in yet as I don't think there is a big enough market for it, and I already have a large variety of fresh boneless skinless breasts in different pack sizes

my company is finally getting into "ethnic foods" slowly and maybe in larger center's it would be a good thing

its just blessed and killed in certain rituals...if anyone has any questions i can go in to the halal shop by my house and ask just let me know.....we have alott athose places around here

Anyone have an average cost for Halal processed cuts? I bet it's 30% over conventional and at least 12% over all-natural cost. The market just isn't there yet.

Halal just means "acceptable" the opposite of Haram which means "prohibited", for some Muslims things such as pork, alcohol, etc. are prohibited, whereas beef, lamb, chicken are Halal/accepted only if the slaughter is performed in a specific manner under the observation of a qualified Muslim. As mentioned above, Halal slaughter requires the animal be facing a certain direction, that a fatal cut be made to the throat, and that a prayer is spoken during the slaughter (there is some controversy on this last point, some larger chicken processors just play a recording, some Muslims don't like that). In the beef and lamb plants that I've been in doing a Halal slaughter, the animal is first stunned, either with a bolt or an electrical stun, and then the throat is cut and it is bled out. The only difference between the Halal slaughter and the normal slaughter, is that a Muslim is holding the knife.
There are also some stipulations about how the meat is handled post-slaughter, mostly regarding the separation of Halal meat from non-Halal. Real sticklers will want it stored in separate coolers, but most Muslims eating Halal in my experience are fine as long as proper measures are taken to ensure that no cross contamination occurs.
Halal certification gets a bit trickier. To ensure that meat is Halal, you need to pay someone to certify that your processes were proper. Many Halal certification organizations will insist that the original Halal certificate has to accompany the meat throughout the distribution chain, this gets pretty tricky when loads get broken out. So technically, if you've got something with a Halal mark on the label, but you don't have the cert, it's not Halal anymore, but there is a lot of wiggle room. Part of being a good Muslim eating Halal requires them to get to know their butcher so that they can trust what he is selling them. We sell all kinds of Halal items without certification or documentation at all, and we put a Halal mark on our further processed items that use all Halal ingredients, we've never had any problem because we try and be very transparent about this on our website so our customers know exactly what they are getting. Halal does not have nearly as much central control or recognition as Kosher so there is a really broad range of categories that pass as Halal and some specialty retailers even go so far as to rank their products in terms of Halal-ness. Also, certification authorities like to say that competing certification authorities are not "real" Halal, but that tends to happen when money is involved.
Halal has nothing to do with quality, just like anything else, there are some Halal products that far exceed commodity level, and some that are far below it. You've probably eaten Halal products many times without knowing it. Pretty much all chicken from Brazil, lamb from Australia, and Lamb and Beef from New Zealand are Halal. Also, many plants in the US slaughter everything Halal, and then just pay for certificates on the product they export to Islamic countries.
I have occasionally run into prejudiced individuals who don't want Halal product, but like most prejudice, they are really just ignorant, and occasionally stupid...
Most Muslims, by the way, consider Kosher to be acceptable as Halal. But it doesn't work in the other direction.
I'm not Muslim so I could be wrong about some of the above, but I do have loads of Muslim friends and we sell a fair bit of Halal product and so this is what my understanding is up to this point.
