speak of the devil, I was just saying something about the inspector yesterday on here and this morning he shows up in my store.
Everyone goes into a panic. "the inspector is here the inspector is here. "
I am thinking "ok" Everything is where it is supposed to be, labels are right, everything in my dept is clean. I am not worried..
the boss comes in and in a whisper so he won't hear (its a small market) "Fred the inspector is here" Me : "Yes I know" Her:"Make sure your got the labels on all your sausage and things" Me:"Don't worry I do"
so i decided to make myself useful and help everyone else get this sorted out. I say to the cook "you need to get your veggies out of that sink before he sees it" (the sink desinated for washing hands. she always has something in there) She says i am not worried about it. I go into the deli cooler I say to the deli girl "these bowls need dates on them" she didn't believe me. so what happens five minutes later the cook is getting a talking to about the stuff in the sink, the deli got wrote up for mislabeling sliced lunch meats, He find this really nasty spot in the corner of the deli cooler and then he points out that the bowls need dates on them. they are cooked items stored for reheating later. I don't know what else he got them on but for me, he checked my temperatures, my dates, gave the meat a real good looking over, he checked my work area and my cooler and he had nothing on me or if there was anything on me i didn't hear about it yet. But like i was just saying yesterday they always zoom in on the deli. Does your Deli also seem to have to most violations?.
Its funny how the entire store goes into panic mode when the inspector shows up. Everyday I make it a point to make sure all staff are following the proper procedures , all our logs are completed corectly, all product is dated and identified properly. The day I let my guard down is the day they walk in.... never let your guard down cause for sure they will get ya on something... carma I guess.
