The 26th of January is Australia Day. Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with Turkey as preferred protein we have lamb on Australia Day.
The "Lambassador" for this occassion is ex Australian rules footballer Sam Kekovich and over past 7 years and is now better known for lamb than football and has become an icon for lamb.
Check out part of the National advertising campaign on You Tube.
Lamb seems to be the more popular meat for traditional holidays around the world. But here in the U.S.A. we like do things differently. I can't think of any holidays where Lamb is the must have meat.

ot one time easter and even christmas. but is a challenge to do properly. ham ends up being cheaper anyways
Lamb is still big for Easter around my area. Cost prohibitive for most but we still sell the hell out of it. We also generally sell out of it over Christmas. Lamb crowns, legs and shoulders mostly.
