Just joined here. I am Jay and I only have been cutting meat (retail) for about 4 years. I work at Kroger in Roanoke, VA. I joined hoping to learn more about my job. I worked for 25 years in the construction business (various trades) and felt I was starting to get too old for that so I looked around and found a job wrapping, and cleaning the shop at Kroger. In 6 months I took my cutting test. I still think there is more to learn for me, so I will be visiting here a lot. I am also a musician (guitar) and I just turned 50.
Hi Jetplane, GLAD you found us, GLAD you join us, checked your site out, looking good there !!
you said you have been cutting meat (retail) for about 4 years. I work at Kroger in Roanoke, VA. I joined hoping to learn more about my job.
Well you come to the right place to learn more about it, we got a lot of video's about our Trade, if you haven't found them here is the link. http://meatcuttersclub.com/videos.htm myself I think the one to best help a young meat cutter is Bovine Mology and Muscle Profiling http://bovine.unl.edu/bovine3D/eng/fab.jsp may take you a little time to learn to use it but it's a great tool.
Any question you got about our industry PLEASE ask, we got about 1000 years experience in just 20 meat cutters here, never thought about all of us but maybe 7 to 8000 in all our members here. So if you have a question, ask and you shall receive lol we are not Bashful
Jacob, the first meat I ever cut on was a deer. Didn't know what I was doing. It was 2 deer as a matter of fact. The guys that shot em didn't know what they were doing. They kept wondering why they were so heavy. Well while I was butchering them I noticed they only field dressed them from the diaphram down. Still had the lungs, heart etc..
Butcher29, love your avatar.
Pete, glad to meetcha.
Fred, Cool another musician. i play alot of styles but mostly Rock or Progressive rock. Just click on the link on my first post to listen. . .
i did visit your site and played your two videos. It seems like the other song links are just lyrics or am I missing something else? I really like the music in your videos I think Jetplane is a fitting name for you because i could really feel the power in your guitar playing style. If there are any other songs on there that I am missing let me know i would like to hear them.
by the way everyone this guy really is a talented musician. I think you'll enjoy that music i mentioned if you haven't heard it already check it out.

I don't know Fred, what kind of player do you have? Above the lyrics there should be a little player. Does a window pop up asking to use your computer's media player? I'll have to check into it because I want my site to be accessable for all platforms.
By the way thanks for the great review. I don't get many of them . . .LOL
Just agout any band from the Classic Rock era 0f the late 60's and entire 70's (excluding Disco. I was one of those Disco Haters but I like it now for nostalgic purposes) Kansas, Styx, Yes, Eric Clapton, Beatles, Stones, Monkees (LOL I was 8 in '69), then later heavier stuff like Ted Nugent, AC/DC, any Southern Rock, and of course. . . the greatest. . Hendrix.
