Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc.

Tyson Foods subsidiary Bruss Co., a provider of portion-controlled steaks and chops for restaurants, chains and cruise lines, is close to a deal with the City of Jacksonville, Fla., that would expand its operations and add 200 full-time jobs to the Southeast, the company told Meatingplace.

The Jacksonville Economic Development Commission has approved a $1.2 million incentive package for Bruss that includes grants and job creation tax refunds, according to a report in the Jacksonville Business Journal. It now goes to the city council for consideration, and Bruss is still researching the Jacksonville site before making what would reportedly be a $7.2 million investment in the area.

Chicago employees would be given the chance to move to Florida with the company, but most hired would be current Jacksonville residents.

Bruss targeted the Southeast because its product is much in demand in the region. It maintains a 52,000-sq.-ft. facility in Chicago, employing 300 people.
