meat cutters pay

I've been processing wild game full time for the past 12 years. I was wondering what kind of hourly pay is common today in grocery stores. When I left my last job, I was making $15 per hour. I took a temporary gig for 3 weeks at a small grocery store after Hurricanne Gustav and was paid $14 per hour.

Hi Deerbutcher, Glad to see you on the board.

Around the north part of Georgia, no union is about 15.00 to 18.00  for a market manager, a cutter is from 10.00 to 14.00

In Atlanta, a cutter is from 16.00 to 20.00  a market manager is 20.00 to 24.00

In Arizona, the guys on the old pay scale make $18. New pay=$11. Yes, they are phasing us out.

depending on who you work for and where you live, union or not. journeyman is anywhere from 13 to 20 and market manager are 15 to 21 per hour. back home in ct the stop and shop oldtimers are getting 32 for cutting and 36 i think for managing.

Depends on your skill level for the position. Locally, first level cutters make anywhere from 12-15/hr, second level 14-18/hr. 14-17/hr average.

wild game is pretty good money,I know doing moose or elk can bring a guy about 300 to 400  a animal. That is with out doing the wrapping just cutting and boning it all out.About 3 hour job, no over head.Working in retail depends on the job, union 18 to 25 a hour.smile

Salaried meat cutters at my last job made 700-1200/wk for 60 hours. At my current store the meat cutters earn between 14-16/hr - I've only been offered up to 20/hr for Meat Manager. But I do know of a Meat Manager friend of mine around here making 70k/year. This is in Massachusetts, South Shore.

I make well over $22 an hour but I have merchandiser Experience and have negotiated contracts with vendors not to mention all my experience with R&D and new product development

most cutters in the midwest will make $14-$18 an hour
Market managers in the $18-$21 range
