Country of origin

For all of you in the U.S.A. What do you do for labeling the country of origin.I don't know if other countrys have this , but if so, you can comment too!

It's called the cool law,, country of origin labeling,, been in effect for a couple years. All fish have it on the label but if you only use USA Beef you can put up a sign on the counter stating it is US only beef unless otherwise labled. Same with pork and chicken . Since we only use USA produced products other than fish we have no problem with the inspectors. If you use products from outside the US it has to be labeled as such. This law has worked wonders for us since we only use domestic products and our competition does not . We also have to have the matching invoices in our file for the inspectors to verify . Also the ends of all fish boxes that show where it came from. Now that is a headache .

one store i was working at a couple years ago started taking in sukarne beef. the inspector came in and told us it and all the fish and other foreign meat had to have a label on it but the owner didn't want to buy labels for every thing so he backed down and just let us print several signs listing where everything came from.

also you can edit your scale so all the tags printed have the country of origin in the discription..thats cheaper than buying rolls of stickers

Actually as you will see in this video

To be labled as Product of the USA it must be Hatched or born, Raised and then slaughtered in the USA

If any of these things is different it must also list that Country too

The only change to this video is most stores are now required to COOL label not just the big boys
