If they want to talk to a butcher, I tell them we have meatcutters here. I tell them my wife is the butcher, I'm the meatcutter!! I say a butcher hacks away and don't know what their doing!! But actually, A butcher is a person who may slaughter animals, dress their flesh, sell their meat or any combination of these three tasks
My Company has been making strides back to using the work Butcher. A Butcher is a trusted store employee FMI did a study last year that showed that the Butcher was the second most trusted employee in the grocery store behind the Pharmacist I embrace being called a Butcher. It means that people are comfortable to talk to me and ask for recommendations and it beats what my employees call me anyday

well i always prefered the term meat cutter but the store i am at now refers to me as the butcher. they are two very different trades. I think butchers are very skilled at what they do and they know how to cut meat. the difference is they wrap their meat in butcher pager and give it back to the customer. meat cutters have to display their cuts so everyone can see them and they better know how to make them pretty and know how to sell meat. a butcher can be very impressive and does things I never done and know nothing about. but i think meat cutters have an advantage as they know or should know how to make things preseentable so someone will want to buy it. however lets not forget that their are alot of butchers who became meat cutters. my boss lady started working in a slaughter house and now she is a grocery meat dept. manager for the last 15 years. and she is very good. those butchers who are also meat cutters are twice as impressive . I got tired of correcting people who refer to me as a butcher. I used to say i don't think i would be a good butcher but i am a good meat cutter. but now i just let them call me a butcher..whatever works for them..fine...i try not to confuse people i guess. i have once said I am not a butcher i am just a lowly meat cutter...but i was being a smart ass. there is NOTHING lowly about meat cutters...we are salesmen and artists at the same ttime
