Congratulation. I'm sure you'll do well. Remember to be fair and lead by example. If you trully care about the people who work for you it will go a long way. Don't forget as a whole they will never care about your dept above the level at which you care for the dept.
And one more thing, it's your job to make sure the right decisions are made, but not always to have the answer. The answer can come from the newest rookie on your team just as much as it can come from you. If some one has a good idea use it, doing so will make you more of a leader, not less.
for the next few weeks its gonna suck because no cutter to help out...just me & a wrapper....at least he can cut bnls strips and bnls pork loins that are on sale this week....but I'll take all the OT they want to give me!!!!
congrats sir, hope you enjoy it, I never did, didn't like having to put up with store managers. take all the overtime you can get, the world is getting rough. maybe you can train your wrapper to cut more, maybe make a meat cutter out of him. Good Luck !
I know the feeling....'cept my wrapper cant cut at all!!!!! and we have to hand count all out deliveries to the meat dept and sign them in.....only day I dont have to place an order is sat an sun.....only day no delivery is sunday....every day we are picking up more sales, and I am stressed...
Good luck to you, this is my first week as manager....
