Hey MeatMonkey, Talking about those falls, When i was a market manager or a cutting room manager, one of my top 5 GOLDEN rules was, you better NOT leave box straps or wrap off pallets laying on my floor or my cooler, BIG NO NO !! Seen to many cutters hurt off that crap and almost went myself a few times in my early days. What made me start that rule was a young cutter that was fast, walk fast, came flying out the cooler with a boneing knife in his hand and trip on a box strap, fall forward and cut another cutter in the back of his left arm, took 14 stitches, Which brought up another GOLDEN rule, don't go in my cooler with a knife, bring out what ever you need, then cut it.
AS for the cig on the meat block, believe or not but have work with companies that gave you ashtrays to sit on the blocks. Smoke and CUT THAT MEAT !! I actually remember the days you could go out and wait on a customer with a cig in your mouth. MAN THAT IS BEING OLDDDDDDDDDDDD

I agree. The box straps are very dangerous. Not so bad if they're cut, but when still in a loop, if you step in it with one foot, the strap may tilt upward and the next foot may get caught in it and down you go. I used to work with cutters who smoked on the job. They left the cigs on the wooden block and that left burn marks wherever it had been sitting.
I'm sure you guys were real careful not to get any ashes in the meat now right?!
I knew a few guys who chewed tobacco while working. Of course they spit it in the bone barrel. Not a good idea when people also drain meat in the same barrel.
There was this cutter ?? At lest that is what they called him, he was a " Meat God's " high school friend, not to bright, the " Meat God " gave him his job and watch out over him, he could do no wrong. If you said anything to him he would pull out his cell phone and call the " Meat God " He called on me regularly lol He chrew tobacco while working, he would stay out behind the case most of the time, I have seen him many times be ask a question by a customer, he would turn and split into the floor drain behind the case, wipe his mouth and start talking to them. USE to drive me nuts !! needless to say he and I didn't get along, when I would ask the " Meat God " to talk to him, he would just smile and say, awww he don't mean no harm. This cutter is on face book and one I have NEVER ask to join this site.
