Data Recovery

I had a situation with 2 external H/D that suddenly hit me. Both of them were used for various types of backups, mainly images and sound design files.. One of them is a 1 TB drive, the other is a 128 GB drive.
On a 1 TB disk, a blue indicator lights up when connected, and you can hear the computer beep when connected, but it does not appear in the file directory as before.. when I listen to the device, I hear a constant clicking noise, as if it is trying to turn on, but nothing happens.
Any suggestions.. my previous acquaintance with data recovery companies was very, very negative, as a result of which I lost a lot of money and received less than zero in return, despite the fact that they analyzed the disk and told me they could restore it.
Any feedback is welcome.

Try changing the visibility settings in the file directory.

What kind of companies were they? I always have the same one doing the restoration, if that happens.

If you're constantly having problems when working with these external disks, the disk has ceased to be writing, or data has started to disappear, you can always try to make data recovery to restore the original appearance of your disk. Perhaps a lot of unnecessary garbage has accumulated on the disk, among which some nasty virus that prevents you from living may be hiding. One day I bought myself a RAID to store video files mounted for movies. I downloaded some kind of virus in the process, which began to delete files. After a while, my disk refused to send files to the network, and I couldn't forward them to my google drive to share them with colleagues. It's good that I guessed to restore its original appearance, and everything worked as new.
