In 2011, a Trans-Tasman Butchers' Challenge was established between New Zealand and Australia. In 2013, the competition transformed into the Tri-Nation's Butchers' Challenge as Britain joined the competition. This year (2016) the challenge is adding another knife to it's belt as it becomes the World Butchers' Challenge as France attends the challenge for the first time.
Teams of six from Australia, Britain and France will compete against three-time world champions, the Pure South Sharp Blacks for this year’s title. The teams will each have three hours to turn a side of beef, pork and a lamb into a first class butchery display. Each team is judged by a panel of expert industry judges on their preparation, presentation, finishing and display.
The 2016 Study Tour will be held on the Gold Coast from 5th September. The tour will conclude on 10 September with the World Butchery Challenge.
