I don't think I've ever done that, but I have a few times hit (with my knife) that metal tab that's at the edge of the block. You know, that metal piece that keeps the white plastic table top from sliding off the table frame. I think I can see one right under the knife at the edge of the block. I've run a knife over those once or twice.
