The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency are partnering with groups including food retailers and FMI on an effort to support a new goal to cut the amount of food waste in the US by 50% by 2030. "Reducing food waste at all levels in the food chain -- farm, factory, store and home -- is certainly one of those issues with economic and emotional appeal," FMI President and CEO Leslie Sarasin said.
