The World's First Vegan Butcher Shop Is Set to Open in Minneapolis
Brother-sister team announce the first-ever meatless meat shop.
Turkeys everywhere finally have a reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving, as Aubry and Kale Walch plan to open the first-ever vegan meat market. Grub Street announced the news earlier today after the duo reached their $50,000 Kickstarter goal. The new shop, slated to open its animal-friendly doors in April, will be a brick-and-mortar expansion of their existing stand at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market. The siblings promise that the storefront will be just like a regular butcher, selling meatless versions of ribs, bologna, pepperoni, jerky, and Italian sausage, plus cheeses, marinades, and breads. The Walches are seeking an additional $10,000 to buy the necessary equipment to ship nationwide, so you too can enjoy a Tofurkey by next Thanksgiving. No opening date for the brick-and-mortar butcher shop has been set yet.
id like to say id wish them luck but I don't,,,why?? because being the anti meat market they will get plenty of free publicity compared to any competition..
and watch their messages in the shop- this will be a haven for all the angry vegan propaganda
"in a real meat market, 100 animals had to die each day, in our market,,,,no animals died "
vegans are only 3% of the population,,, very small,,, so not a threat,
however, the more "mainstream" they get the more the women listen to them
part of my bias is this,,,,the traditional meat industry is under daily/weekly/monthly media scrutiny /assault, with no balance
the meatless meat market is just one more message in a "cause"
the media and angry vegans and peta keep the mud slinging against us
I survey women all the time,,,and in the last 2 years, there number one concern is safety,,,because of pink slime
many of us are under even more scrutiny- if you are a supermarket cutter- many supermarkets are going case ready meats - and these anti meat messages do not help our cause or profession (there is no balance)
the other propaganda I keep hearing about is the crap on Netflix,,,all these documentaries of corrupt slaughterhouses, and all the chemicals everywhere going into our meats
don't be surprised to see this,,,another lunatic left wing directive- eliminate guns!
don't laugh , enough fruit loops would go to show there support and there would be the media - pumping this "cause" up with
free publicity
Gun-less gun shop a "murder free zone"
there will be a rifle with a flower out the barrel (shoot flowers, not bullets)
it will be a floral shop "giving and sending smiles and peace,,,,not death and destruction like a traditional gun shop
so how easy this crap gets out of hands and how easy the catch phrases are ?? some women and young kids would think this is great
Very well said Mainemeatman. Maybe we should consider finding some mud to sling back. Vegan are not with out their own evils. We just haven't looked for them.
Humans are meat eaters. we need meat in our system. It has been with us since the beginning. Do physicians actually recommend "NO MEAT" diets? I don't think I have heard that. I heard they recommend avoiding certain meats but encourage others. Its also varies by the person. There is no one diet that fits the health needs of every person. I really don't believe that any physicians have declared all meat unhealthy.
So maybe we should start slinging mud on the health risks of NOT eating meat. 97% of the population are meat lovers if your statistics are correct. We should have no trouble squashing the vegan movement.
Cattle, hogs, chickens, turkeys and fish ect were given to us as a food source. We need THAT protein in our bodies.
