Two things I get so tried of hearing

"Why are you guys out of it if it's on sale?!"

"Why didn't you guys order enough?" Like they don't get the concept of the warehouse not sending it to you, despite however much you order.

I totally feel your pain. I would add "Don't you have any more in the back?" Like I am lying when I tell them they are sold out.

Get this a lot on the last day of the week's sale items, at the END of the day. People rush in to buy up all the sale items that you could hardly give away during the week, and get upset when you're out of them at the end.

I feel like saying, "Well, it was on sale ALL WEEK! We had plenty...WHERE WERE YOU THEN?"

I'm on the customers side on this. End of ad or not. Try to see it from their point of view. But at the same time very frustrated when I'm put into that position by my employer. I feel like a victim too. I really dislike when that happens. I've even admitted to customers that they happen to be shopping in a lousy store and that's why were out of the item. I'd never do that at my current full time job where I happen to be very happy. We don't have a warehouse. Everything comes directly from the wholesalers. I do a little moonlighting, and at those places, I encounter this all the time.

It's our employer who's screwed up. Not the customer (on this subject)

If we run out of a fresh fish item,  I may explain how you have to be careful with certain perishable items. If you order too much, you can't just put in on a shelf in the back for a few months like you could do if you were selling TV's or something like that. That we ordered heavy, and still ran out. I apologize and promise that they can have it at a price next time they come in.

Then, the customers that complain the most are the cherry pickers that are buying only sale items.
