Does your company

Does your company give store personnel a chance to learn to be a meat cutter, If so, do they pay them anything extra while learning

The chance is there for them but they are not paid extra wages this is reluctantly demo-relating them from team work.

No extra pay to train someone a skilled trade....... If anything, they should pay us for the education.

Yes and no. We don't train just anyone, but those who show promise (attitude, ability to handle a knife) and have spent some time in the market we will. For example, we may elevate and clean-up guy to a clerk, and once they learn to fill the case and make a few simple items, we may begin to train them. Usually once they get the counter duties down pat, we will put them on the clerk pay scale, up from the market cleanup pay scale. Once they learn to cut most things well enough and they are still serious about it, only then will we move them to the meat cutter pay scale.
