If your store has a hot sale on items and puts a limit on how many a customer can purchase how do you handle it when a customer wants more than the limit?

Are they all in the case or do you have to get it for them? I would just let them buy it. Not my problem. Let the store managers handle that crap. Putting a limited supply of something on sale is just asking for problems.
As long as they are not trying to wipe you out, I would recommend going ahead and give them more of what they want, but make it appear as if you are doing it as a special favor. They are happy and walk away feeling like they've received extra special customer service!

I once told a church lady who wanted 40 sale turkeys that we wanted all our customers to enjoy a turkey Thanksgiving and it is unfair for her church to "gobble them all up." I can't let you do it. She said she would go through the line 40 times and I told her I would be waiting up front. Sheesh.
Thanks for the all the comments. I own my own shop and as a reward to customers I send out emails to loyal customers with super good buys. I figure I don't have to pay the newspaper to print it and it goes to my "best" customers as a thank you so I can lose a bit if I give each one of them a chance to buy it. Well I had one customer in 4 times in one hour buying the limit and he got indignant with my wife when she told him no, he had 3 times the limit already and the limit is to ensure as many loyal customers as possible can get the special. He did not see it that way.
So I removed him from the email list. Too bad too because he missed out on some of the cheapest bratwurst of the year this week!
