RE: Beef Prices Reach 27-Year High

The Beef, Pork, Lamb and some varieties of Chicken prices have skyrocketed at our markets here in Western New York. Have heard many reasons why...

Drought, cost of feed, culling Pork herds due to a disease that strikes every 30 years??? Never heard (herd) that one before! Grazing fees rising, the

Beef herds, as this article states are already thinned out and It'll be 3 years to generate full stocks. This summer, prices are expected to rise again as the

availability (especially pork) declines dramatically. Many cutters are concerned with possible lay-offs due to a lack of affordability by customers and/or

production cutbacks. Many of our customers are livid at having to pay over $20.00 for an 8LB Roaster Hen they used to pay $8.00 for two weeks ago.

Many grass fed and Organic Ranch/Farms although somewhat already a little pricier than the usual may be more affordable due to their raising methods

and practices. Again the possibility exists that as their demand increases they too may increase their prices...

Thanks all for your concerns and input.
