On paper? None. Getting a talking to from the store manager/ dept head? More than a few times.
Yup, they rarely want to loose anyone, they just want to control you and tell you how to do your job! Ya gotta watch it, don't stir the pot and don't step on toes!
I forgot. A lot of you are managers. Managers usually don't get written up. They get a free pass. Rules are different for them :)
Some of you guys/gals will have your own coffee in the morning and then write up the night man for having a bottle of water on the floor in the corner under the table :)

That it the whole truth Burgermeister!!!! I am guilty as charged, just because I break the rule does not mean I let everyone else. Call me a hypocrite but I am the dept. boss and if my boss catches me it is my butt, If I catch my employees its their butt. That is just the way it is. They get away with enough stuff I am sure. My boss usually lets it slide like he does not see my coffee, but I know he has, I guess it is just a right of passage for making it to the dept. head. I payed my dues in my earlier years getting my butt chewed out for doing the same thing the boss was doing. I know it does not seem fair, but what is? I am an even bigger a**hole without my coffee.

the hypocrisy is a great topic, and I like to talk about that too. But can lead us away from my point.
My point was that I was thinking I'd get a lot of "yes" on the "have you ever been written up?" question. But then I realized (I mean remembered) that a large percentage of you are managers. The thing is, if you have enough interest to join this site, you probably have enough interest to be a manager. If you want to be a manager, you will probably become one. No disrespect, but It's not like becoming a 5 Star General, or President of USA. Almost anyone who passes probation in a meat dept can be a manager. I've known apprentices who became managers. No one else wanted the #$@& job. Many get it by default.
Since most of you are managers, and since managers don't get written up, there won't be many yes votes. OTOH, I have about 18 coworkers and we've all been written up. My manager too, but that was at another company and before he became one.
3 times for sure in the last 15 years. There might had been 1 or 2 I have forgotten. All were petty things. Except the last one. Next topic could be list reasons you were wrote up for. I think it will be funny when we see some stupid pointless reasons some of us were written up for.
On paper. One time in the last 19 years and it was when I was a manager with another company. I have had different managers over the years sit me down and talk things out a few times though. In the end I think it made me a better employee/manager. One of the hardest parts of my job now is writing people up. It does not happen very often, prob once or twice a year, but I hate it!
Forget my last comment. Apparently messing up the grinder log and being up front about it warrants a write up. I should of called off yesterday like I wanted to. It will be either a short or long meeting depending if there is a Union Steward in attendance. The sh$%%y thing is that the manager that is supposed to deal with it is off for the weekend. He has been waiting for this chance for a long time now..
Fdarn... n ot as well as i hoped overall. Messing up the grinder log is pretty bad considering it is done through the rf handheld. But I was dealing with a major sinus infection and two hours sleep. But, what did get me riled up is getting a store audit and having the grinder put together without using it anytime soon. Apparently it is critical violation. So, i got two writeups today.
I was pretty bent about the second one, I may say something to the union on that. The type of writeups i got were more o a reminder of something signifigant that happened BUT, the second in charge has had it for me for quite a while now. I think this was his way of controlling me and keeping me in line. It is his style going back to FoodTown. I dont think he liked the fact that I said that write ups are not any way to hold people accountable for thier job performance and help them to be better employees both personally and corporately. Manager/supervisor and employee relationships are the best way to sow the good seed. Hopefully he will be rotated out soon and we can not have to worry about looking over our backs all the time.
Humans make mistakes and in my book this isn't major. Its as if they expect us to be machines. I don't believe writing up for minor things is a good way to build moral in the company. It will more liley just build tension. The thing that disgusts me the most about this business is we often get no recognition for every thing we do well and with pride, but if we make one little error its a write up and a meeting with the bosses.

Yeah well, if they want things by the book, NOTHING would get done.... At least not very well. Funny thing is I cover a lot of ground and fix things to make it *work* even when when it shouldn't be so just to make them look good. In the interest of all things involved, perhaps i didnt do that anymore? I can take the high road but, a little give and take is what makes a store work.
