NC Choices announces a call for nominations for the Cleaver Awards

to be presented at the 3nd annual Carolina Meat Conference, December 9th  in Winston Salem, NC.

 

These Awards will be presented to North Carolina based meat producers, processors, and food professionals whose

 business practices exemplify innovation, leadership, and integrity in the local and niche meat industry.

 

2012 Cleaver Award Recipients:

Meat Producer- Eliza MacLean, Cane Creek Farm , Snow Camp, NC

Food Professional- Andrea Reusing, Lantern, Chapel Hill, NC

Meat Processors- Richard and Ronnie Huettmann, Acre Station Meat Farm, Pinetown, NC

 

Please submit your 2013 nominations in the following categories:

 

Producer- meat producers who own and operate farms in NC and market local and niche meats.

Processor- NCDA, USDA inspected processors who continually strive to provide high quality services in a professional manner.

Food Professionals- Chefs, retail shop owners or other food professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to local and transparent sourcing of meats raised and processed in NC, including carcass utilization techniques that directly benefit producers. 

 

To submit a nomination, reply to this email, provide any additional information you see fit and keep the subject line in-tact. The deadline for submissions is December 2nd.

that advances local and niche meat supply chains in North Carolina by providing

networking opportunities, educational programming and technical assistance for

producers, meat processors, buyers and food professionals. CEFS is a partnership of

NC State University, NC A&T State University and the NC Department of Agriculture and 

Consumer Services.
