At least Mr. McDonald the Acting President is working to see if the need is there and as short as we are for meat cutters here in Ga. and the South East I'm sure we will get a course.
Hi Leon,
A note to let you know we continue to work through our “Needs Assessment” process for the meat cutting program. Our staff has identified 75 business employers in our 9 county service area that employee meat cutters or meat cutting assistants. Our next step is to conduct a direct survey with these 75 employers. We will ask them a list of questions about the people they employ and what skills are needed in the various jobs. We will ask them how many “hires” they make in a 12-month period. This will include replacing people who leave employment and also new positions they may add to their staff.
I will let you know the results of the survey. This should be completed within the next 30-days. A program of this type will require the hiring of a minimum of 25 people each year in our 9 counties. Also, at the present time we do not have a facility or the equipment to add this program to our course offerings. We will define the needed space and equipment over the next few weeks as well. If the employment need is determined to be sufficient to justify an educational program, we will need to ask the state for additional funding to set-up the program.
We need one, the last two cutters we hired didn't last long, one said the work was to hard. the other one made it about 5 weeks then fail to come in, never seen or heard from him again. had his mother come by and pick up his last check.
it was probably too hard of work cause it required more than sitting around with a video game controller in his hand. kids today have had it much too easy.
