Buying a new wrapper need some input

Hello fellow cutters/butchers we are looking to buy a automatic wrapper. We currently have a Ulna wrapper and have been looking at the Ishida 4000 we do about 3000 wraps a shift. Any body used one of these? Pros or Cons? Or are there better wrappers out there?  Any comments will help our decision.

            Thanks Tecbutch

RE: Buying a new wrapper need some input

I am not good with the brand names but when purchasing a new automatic meat wrapping machine there are a couple questions I would ask.

First and most important to me; how easy is it to load a new roll of film? I had worked with one where I had to lay down on the floor and crawl under it to load a new roll of film.

Second does it need to be manually adjusted for each different size package? I would recommend looking for one that can handle your smallest 17s trays and then a 20lb turkey with out any adjustments being made.

I would stay away from the ones with a real long converor belts or tracks. Because sooner or later packages will get jammed and start falling on the floor. It always happens. find on one of the compact models that can be fit into a small space so that if anything goes wrong the problem is usually within arms reach.

Digi makes one that will put your day-glo sticker on and only requires one size of film (16") . Not sure of the exact model # but I highly recommend it.

I think you might be on to something Leon but its a big job and we like to go home eventually!

Your right with your points fdarn we use a Ulna wrapper now the second one in 10 years  there not a bad machine but we think we may do better with our  $30K+ spend.

The Digi rep is coming to see us today Nate thanks.
