Meatcutters Responsibilites

Meat cutters have a potentially dangerous job.

Cutting meat is a bigger job than most of us think. There is the tools and the knife that we totally have to be alert around us at all times. If we didn't have meat cutters, we wouldn't have meat to buy at the store or at a restaurant to eat. Meat cutters are a very important part of our daily lives. It is our job to put out the best product to our customer as well Supply the best customer service we can to them.In all that we have to put safety first.I know block ready doesn't seem to dangerous, but you still have to lift the boxes.I believe a safe and clean area helps bring out the best in our cutters. As cutters even on bad days we need to suck it up and cut proper and give the best we can for our customer.Did a tour last week for abunch of kids, and one of the Question was is it Dangerous.smileJust a thought that goes through my mind.Add anything you wish.smile

RE: Meatcutters Responsibilites

I use to give tours for kids,, love it- I liked interacting with the teachers,,, for some reason,,i'd always get a vegetarian squeamish teacher,,, she was usually more squeamish than the kids.
so, with the kids,,id ask what are there favorite meats?? - show of hands for steaks,,pork or chicken,,,then I'd tell them,,"dont let anyone tell you beef isnt good for you"

I usually cooked up some beef tips for them to sample,,

somewhere between elementery school and high school, kids are getting a brainwashing on how bad meat is,,particularly beef,,cause the younger girls in the tours,,weren't the 'EVERYTHING IS ICKY" girls you see in high school..
they wanted to see how burger was made,,, not much "grossed them out" as they said back then- of course many of the kids were kids of hunters,,so they've seen deer being cut up.

If I saw a know it all boy,,or he was acting up,,,id say - son, come to the front of the line, watch the burger coming out of the head of the grinder- and he would stick his head,,,,,right in front,,and smack! out comes the burger (from bench trimmings)
the kids would laugh and laugh,,,

anyways,,yes they would ask is it dangerous,,,,,then id point them to the dangerous areas,,,,cut up some dog bones
on the saw,,,or a pork loin,, show them where a pork chop comes from.

A few mothers would also come on the tours,,,and they seem so very surprised how clean everything was, no smells,,,
and they would ask questions too.
