hello/hows about you/howdy etc

Just a quick hello i found this site (cough my other half did) i married a usc Im from northern ireland which has more butcher shops but have lived in england where most meat is bought in supermarkets and plan to move here in a few months once visa stuff is done after a few yrs of being a carer i had to think of an occupation id like to to before i was in electronics/warehousing from general worker to supervisor level and i like my food so i thought butcher jobs when i come here ive no experience other than a week in a meat processing factory on the line and over a yr in a cheese processing factory value adding cheese ie grating etc .

Ive no qualifications not even a food hygiene cert (a UK cert...basically a day in college) but i have worked in the food industry and i know what anti-vac is and a boot wash :)

My reason for joining this site is to get advice help tips etc in becoming a proper butcher and learning skills and any other chit chat and general stuff/nonsense.

Im 42 so no spring chicken but ive thrown a few 100wt of cement on my back in my day to run up a ladder ive no knive skills really and ive a vague idea of UK cuts of meat.

I breifly was inthe chat room one wednesday here is a link i like i told the dude about it ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvgQCa29LEM

It is about raising pigs also and some recipes besides butchery and sausage making.

Id welcome any advice on who is best to work for supermarket wise regarding training if when i look for work here i dont find an independant local butcher to train me .( Dont panic i shall be avoiding Walmart i read about their nonsense with the texas butchers)

Welcome to the club Irishdude, ask any question you like because these guys and gals have a wealth of knowledge. Tell us about some of the things you do over there as you can educate us as well. Check out my post of the first moose I ever processed. I have only been in this profession a few years and this site has answered any question that I can throw at them.
