Grand Opening
If you haven't had the chance to visit yet, or if you just want to see what's going on, please visit Foothills Pilot Plant on Wednesday, May 9; we are holding our Grand Opening celebration and Ribbon Cutting at 2:30pm and everyone is invited to attend! Tours of the plant will be offered, and many of the folks responsible for developing and implementing this project will be on-hand to answer your questions. Remember, we are located at 135 Ag Services Dr., Marion, NC 28752, about a mile south of I-40 on NC-226, just beyond the minimum security prison.

Welcome to May! Things are very busy here at the Plant, and we're excited about how much we have scheduled going into summer. If you have poultry or rabbits to process in the near future, please contact us as soon as possible to schedule! Please keep in mind that as of May 4:
limited dates are available in MAY;
the month of JUNE is CLOSED, as in TOTALLY BOOKED;
JULY is filling QUICKLY.
It's never to early to call and plan your season accordingly. We are booking dates through the end of 2012!
In order to serve you all most effectively, please strive to be on-time to drop off your chickens. As we move into hotter months, it is important that we work together to get as much done in the cooler early hours of the day. If at all possible, please make sure your animals have access to water until 3-4 hours before your scheduled drop-off; dehydration makes a difference in how many of your animals arrive in good health as well as the quality of your end product.
We are very proud to have Casey McKissick of NC Choices filling in as Plant Manager during the month of June, while Dr. Manhiani and I are both out on family leave. Thank you to the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) for making this support possible. Producers, please help Casey keep things running smoothly by addressing any scheduling or packing issues in a timely manner!
