It seems like luggars get cracked easier now than they did a few decdes ago. We have so many broken luggars! Are they thinner gauge now? Maybe my store just chooses to buy cheaper ones?
I would say they are cheaper made now a days, I remember when they were made of a lot better stuff than now.
I use to love the metal ones, when some of my crew came in with a hang over I use to like to drop them on the floor all morning. An the metal pans we use to have, I loved the ring tone they gave off when they hit the floor, you would see my hung over workers heads vibrate with the sound LOL
i noticed the same thing with with the styrofoam trays. I think everyone is cutting back on the amount of materials they use to make things and yes all my plastic luggers got cracks in them..we just replaced all our rubber maid trash cans last month. i wonder how long the new ones will last.
hey leon you crack me up. i ll remember that one next time i got a hung over worker. I got a couple old steel luggers in the back

YES I WAS A DOG
I haven't seen a metal luggar in years. We still have a lot of metal trays. A few hundred I think.
Most of my time in the business lugs (we called them lugs not luggers) were steel, not plastic. They got dented up but never broke except on the rare occasion someone tried to dump into the blender while it was running! That could be a god awful mess if the paddles grabbed the lug!
Towards the end of my career they started coming in made of plastic or nylon or something similar. They did indeed crack.
