Senior Category Manager - Meat

Job Description

Responsible for developing and managing the procurement and merchandising programs for categories of meat merchandising so as to achieve budgeted sales, gross profit, inventory turns and service levels.  Works directly with other Category Managers and the Pricing Department in order to maximize support for assigned meat categories. Oversees less senior category managers.

Responsbilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Develop business plans that ensure sales budgets will be met.  These business plans should include weekly ad activity.

Create initiatives that meet scan gross and D & A budgets.  Develop negotiating environment that creates a collaborative and cooperative situation where sales and profit are achievable in all major contracts.

Oversee warehouse inventory budget and service level budget by category to meet or exceed corporate goals as it relates to inventory and service level.

Oversee logistic initiatives with all manufacturers - quantify savings per initiative.

Oversee and maintain warehouse and store inventory levels of assigned category.

Develop communication with Operations that ensures all business plans are understood and implemented.

Develop a reporting system that ID's shortfalls in business plans and is a means to meet budgeted sales and profit.

Oversee Category Manager and/or Junior Category Manager within the Meat Department. 

Mentor and teach all Category Managers and Junior Category Managers.

Perform all other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
