For the last 9 or 10 years we too have been required to take out vacations. I miss the old days when we could skip them and keep the money instead.

We get 1-5 weeks each depending on senority. It takes 20 years to get 5 weeks.

I get 3 weeks a year. But I have to take them a week at a time. Its hard to take time off though. Not enough cutters within our chain of stores to spare anyone. Right now if we want to take time off, we have to schedule it about 6 to 8 months before. Kinda sucks! But its always great to get your time off .

I really was surprised to find this site, and will be sharing it with my colleagues for sure. As for kicking back, it's definitely on the way, in 2012/13

Well I'm back after my one week a year holiday, and what a wash out that was.
We went up to the lake district in the north west of england as my sis has a bloody enormous house up there, only stayed for three days ,as it rained constantly seemed it would never stop.
Anyway it was a break away for the shop and that the main thing.
I had to return as one of my customers is disabled ,and she has a standing order every week which I deliver for her.
See customer service even when I'm on my jollies.

Yeah as I'm selfemployed/own shop. there is a limit to my time off, don't want my customers going else where.

What's a "vacation"? I'm lucky if I can get a 3 day weekend. But, at least I can cash out my vacation hours. It seems like something always comes up where I need the extra cash. That never happened before I got married and had kids! LOL
